Hereby I regret to inform you all that Warren Stevenson known to most of us as TexasPete has passed away on the evening of June 1st 2007.

In the time Warren has played with us he became not only our guild member but also our friend.
He will be remembered as such and will be mentioned on our website as an upstanding, sportsmanlike, honourable, fair-playing and helpful member of our community.
With him goes a great friend whom we will all miss very much.
As a gesture of this friendship our Guild members will provide a service in honour of Warren on the Epsilon test server which he so willingly provided for us.

We wish his wife Sandy and all his loved ones all the best in these difficult times.

Please feel free to post your condolences and fond memories of Pete below.

Sincerely yours,

I was very sad to hear this when i logged on to his epsilon server the other day ,which he kindly set up for people like me who just can't get on with the TNG mod.
That was typical of his kind actions,he was always ready to help anyone in our freelancer world & no doubt in the real one as well, he will be much missed.

I wish his wife,family & friends all the best & be sure he is morned around the world by his fellow internet gamers as well.

To say I was stunned by the news is an understatement. I have enjoyed 'Petes' comradeship, his open friendly and helpful approach to his fellow gamers is inspiration for us all.

I send my sincere condolences to his wife, family and friends. To myself and others whom didn't have the opportunity and privilege to meet him, I / we considered him a friend. One who will be missed.

Not much to say, always the best guys that go away first. :(

He'll be missed by alot of people: his wife and family, his friends, his Freelancer's family.

Even if I'm atheist, I really wish he's in the paradise religions describe, it's the least he should get.

Take care everyone,

Holy aka Fabian

I find no appropriate words, only a feeling of loss and great sadness.

It's perhaps time to tell all of you here that you mean the same to each of us as Warren did. Only we left it unsaid to him, unknowing that we would so soon lose him.

Jim

Pete, its been a over a week since Sandy told me to heart wrenching news and still I struggle not hearing your voice. How difficult this must be for her I can only imagine. Who would have thought that a friendship like ours would blossom from a chance meeting on some obscure escapism game all that time ago. For those that dont know, Pete(Warren Stevenson) and I first crossed paths in April 2003 on the DS9 server. I was this aussie larikan giving everyone a bit a lip and there was this kind way to polite guy from Texas. We talked (via typing) and found we were very similar i a lot of ways. Bout the same age, both old Navy boys, both married at least once, great kids, a great woman looking after us etc, etc. We both became server police on DS9 and not long after that we talked on team speak. We shared such similar views on right and wrong the game and the server even life in general. I dont know how many time we solved the problems of the world. You can do a lot of solving when you talk to someone for hours and hours as we sometimes did. As for playing freelancer well sometimes we did that too :-) We finally left DS9 and drifted from server to server. Pete even ran his own servers both vanilla and modded. It didnt matter where we went we still talked and talked. In the early days I would get up at 4.30 or 5am just to catch up b4 work, later this change with Pete getting up early as we didnt want to miss out time talking. God I miss that "Well howdy Dave"

I talked to Pete, nearly every day for the last 4 and a half years, sometimes Sandy too. My Kath and my son Jack loved talking to him. We were there when his son went off to Germany in the Army, when his grandchildren were born, when he finally wed his beloved Sandy, buying their house and moving, changing jobs a few times. I never heard him say a bad word bout anyone. He had a wonderful temperment to say the least.. We did cards and letters, birthdays and christmas who would have thought we were opposite sides of the world.

We have all had a terrible blow in Pete's passing and as I sit here crying my eyes out I wonder why but I know. Only the best people are cruelly taken from thier loved ones before time. We will cry we will miss but at least we will remember Pete for who he was and what he stood for. He is off in another universe doing important work no dont watching us all and smiling.

Sandy if you ever read this please know I loved him like the brother I never had and I will forever regret we never took the chance to meet. I have yours and Warrens wedding photos in my display case right beside my mum and dad( may they rest in peace) so I can still say g'day every day.

May you rest in peace in Harley Heaven my great mate. You are truly missed.

Dave, Kath and Jack.

Well Pete and I had a lot of good times. Man I will always miss that "why hello hello hello Jack" and the "well you keep your father out of trouble now". But the good times will always be there. Pete was the kind of guy that always gave but never wanted much if not anything in return. I loved him greatly and my only regret is that i never get to meet him :( . I talked nearly every day for 4 years and loved when he had days off which meant we could talk all night about freelancer and life. I will miss you Pete.

We'll see you in the soup man

Jack

Fear no more the heat o' the sun,
Nor the furious winter's rages;
Thou thy worldly task hast done,
Home art gone, and ta'en thy wages:
Golden lads and girls all must,
As chimney-sweepers, come to dust.
Fear no more the frown o' the great;
Thou art past the tyrant's stroke;
Care no more to clothe and eat;
To thee the reed is as the oak:
The sceptre, learning, physic, must
All follow this, and come to dust.

On my second day of playing WTS on RRJDS i meet a player named texaspete, he helped me learn how to use the ship, weapons, and systems of the new mod in order to graduate from eternal rookie to.... pretty good. I knew him only in the game and yet that could never have been enough, what i knew of him was that no matter what was going on if he was needed he was already there before you could ask. If someone was needed to fight in a war, or simple someone to chat with on those long cargo runs he always seemed to be there.

What I truely believe is that a man like Pete is one who is truely Immortal not in form but in spirit, he may be gone but the memories of all those he has touched will never be forgotten, so he too will live on in our hearts and in our memories. The best thing I can say about Pete... is being able to have known him and I will never forget him.

To complete this post here's my email to Sandy and her reply.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Sandy,

Thank you for giving us the possibility to say our goodbye's to Warren in our own way.
The server can be shut down now if you wish.

On our website we have opened a condolences register where most of us have posted a message.
When clicking below link you should be able to view it.
http://rrjds.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=428

Again thank you very much and my best to you and yours.

Take care
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you so much! I am deeply touched by the tribute because he loved each and everyone of you so much and got such enjoyment out of playing with everyone. I did shut the server down this morning. It was a very hard thing for me to do. God bless all of you and please keep me in your prayers.

Sandy Stevenson

I am devistated by his loss...I have played with him on several servers throughout the years...he always was a fun chap, honorable and a great ally or opponent depending on the side you were on ;)

I wish his family and wife the best.

Visiting the forum after being away some time I would never have expected such sad news.
I send my condolences to his wife and family and all his friends and wish them all the best.

I came along too late to get to know him but I deeply sympathize with his family and friends in their grief. You never totally recover from the loss of a friend but life does go on. May the good memories he left behind sustain you all.

Max

Since I am not a regular visitor to this forums I just found this thread.

I too came to know Warren about the same time as Max, Or Agent_K as he is known here (also at DS9).
Like Max I also spoke too Warren alot thrue Warren's own teampspeak server he had set up. Sometimes i even met Max and his son Jack at the same channel (but not as much as I talked to Warren because Warren and I usually were awake at the same time, and i usally had to go offline right before Max/Jack got online).

Warren you were one of my best friends ever (even that i did know you for soo short time and that we never met). I miss your calm Texasvoice in my headset.
I hope that they never run out off coffee where you're nowadays.
Take care mate.

/Vulture
